Trolley Power System
Project type
Engineering
Date
June, 2023
Location
Peoria, IL
Hossein Dehnavifard designed a trolley subsystem capable of extending power throughout a mining and heavy dump truck, enabling the truck to maintain steady voltage for its electric motor. This system helps reduce copper losses and significantly extends the lifespan of the truck's electric motor. To develop this system, Hossein Dehnavifard used Simulink and PSIM models for simulation and design, and employed LabVIEW for hardware-in-the-loop testing, ensuring the system's performance and reliability in real-world conditions.
Hossein Dehnavifard also configured a circuit breaker for the system's protection, ensuring that under fault scenarios, only one truck would be disconnected from the circuit rather than bringing down the entire system. This design provides additional reliability and safety, allowing other trucks in the system to continue operating normally while isolating the faulted unit
